The Mazda Blenheim Triathlon 2008
Herbalife continue to invest in UK sport by also maintaining our partnership with the Mazda Blenheim Triathlon as Official Nutrition Partner for 2008.
Nearly 5,000 participants took part in the 2008 Mazda Blenheim Triathlon on June 7th-8th, as Britain’s second largest triathlon event saw record crowds turn out to enjoy the glorious sunshine.
Herbalife Independent Distributors were out in force to represent ‘Team Herbalife’; with six teams in the Team Relay event and an impressive 11 individual entries in addition to those members who were present from the Herbalife Triathlon Academy.
As predicted, the Herbalife Academy members excelled, with Nick Clements and Matt Malloy securing hugely impressive results: 2nd and 3rd place overall in the male sprint with just 0.4 seconds between them! Young distributor Ryan Hanlon, who has recently turned 18, came 27th in the male sprint with Jennie Kingdon showing promise at 20th in the female sprint.
Neil Spiers, Vice President for Herbalife UK comments: "I would like to personally offer my congratulations and thanks to our Academy members and Distributors who took part at Blenheim. Whether you were competing in the triathlon or were there to lend your support, it undoubtedly helped to make this year’s Blenheim Triathlon a huge success for Team Herbalife."
All monies raised by Team Herbalife will go to Casa Herbalife
Over 12,000 families and supporters cheered the competitors on as they swam, cycled and ran around the course set in the beautiful surroundings of Blenheim Palace, an event which is now part of the recently launched British Triathlon Grand Prix Series.
The races of the weekend consisted of the male and female elite, where the top triathletes fought it out for a share of the £10,000 prize fund. The male elite race was won by Stuart Hayes in a time of 1 hour 20 seconds while the female elite race was won by Jodie Swallow in 1 hour 10 minutes
As well as the exciting triathlon, spectators were kept entertained by music, picnics, a children’s sports village and a host of other activities. Fantastic turn-out for the Herbalife children's tent with nearly every child at the triathlon having their face painted, courtesy of Herbalife
